Journey Starts Here

My interest in finance lies in my desire to understand trends and driving factors in the people and world around me. Having grown up in Hong Kong, Singapore, New Delhi, and now Evanston, I’ve been lucky enough to experience markets in a number of contrasting environments in both developed and developing countries alike. In my opinion, financial markets reflect the customers they serve; they highlight confidence, trends and changes in perception. My goal is to use my quantitative background in economics and statistics as well as my curiosity to identify areas of opportunity within the markets that could result in financial gain. I have a strong desire to learn, and finance offers an opportunity to learn not only about people and preferences, but about the internal workings of a company and sector. The combination of quantitative reasoning and qualitative analysis of current events allows for a deep understanding of what exists today in order to make reasoned inferences about what may occur tomorrow.

This blog serves as a platform for me to try, test, and tabulate my foray into the financial markets. I hope to develop a working understanding of the fundamentals that underlie equity investing, as well as the different methods, tactics, and strategies that may be employed to find an edge in the market.
